Fermented red rice extract without monacolin K
An ingredient obtained through controlled fermentation of a type of natural yeast (Monascus purpureus NTU 568). It contains two well-studied active compounds, called monascin and ankaflavin, which are primarily responsible for its properties. Unlike other products derived from so-called “red yeast rice,” Ankascin® 568-R does not contain monacolin K (a natural substance similar to statins).

For this reason, it has a different profile from traditional red rice extracts.

Scientific Evidence
Some human clinical studies have evaluated this ingredient in people with altered cardiometabolic parameters.

• In a study of people with slightly elevated cholesterol, consumption of Ankascin® 568-P showed improvements in blood fat levels compared to placebo (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9332664/).
• In a study with people with mild or moderate hypertension, Ankascin® 568-P was associated with improvements in cardiovascular health indicators, including lipid profile (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28628970/).
• In a trial in adults with prediabetes, its consumption showed positive effects on sugar control and lipid metabolism (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9332536/).

Probiotic strain with a cardiometabolic focus.
Lactobacillus plantarum ECGC 13110402 is a probiotic strain studied for its interaction with the gut-liver axis, a key system in the regulation of lipid metabolism.

Scientific evidence.

• In a clinical trial in adults with normal to slightly elevated cholesterol, supplementation with Lactobacillus plantarum ECGC 13110402 showed improvements in lipid parameters and blood pressure compared to placebo (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29228000/).
• In a subsequent study in adults with hypercholesterolemia, daily consumption was associated with significant reductions in total cholesterol, LDL, non-HDL cholesterol, and apolipoprotein B, without relevant adverse effects (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jff.2022.104939).
• Scientific evidence suggests that certain probiotic strains may play a role in balancing lipid metabolism through the gut microbiota.
