During the last 50 years, human beings have changed ecosystems faster and more extensively than in any other period of history and in parallel for this cause, in this period infectious diseases have been quadrupled globally.
Why is it so important that we avoid this loss of biodiversity and what is the relationship with human health?
Maintaining biodiversity is the only way to avoid new pandemics, it acts as a protective barrier to prevent viruses and diseases from dissipating 3 , since biological diversity dilutes the possibilities of the overflow of pathogens from animals to humans.
